This specification covers the standard for aluminum-alloy centrifugal castings. This specification does not cover aluminum-alloy centrifugal castings used in aerospace applications. The castings shall be in accordance to the prescribed chemical composition. Chemical composition shall be determined by analyzing samples at the time the castings are poured, or samples taken from castings or tension test specimens. Unless otherwise stated, the tensile strength, yield strength and elongation of test specimens cut from casting shall be in accordance with the standards prescribed herein. If the specimens fail to conform to tension requirements, test bars representative of the castings may be retested in accordance with the replacement tests and retest provisions.
