The International Union of Railways (UIC) develops and distributes International Railway Solutions (IRSs) to help railway stakeholders, achieve further harmonisation and collaboration. This IRS identifies the required and recommended information to display outside and inside passenger vehicles used and exchanged in international traffic. It defines the characteristics of: - markings, pictograms, tactile signs, - the arrangement of staff and passenger service information, - external and internal destination boards, number plates and - reserved seats identification features. It does not provide requirements on electronic displays used for passenger information, here UIC Leaflet 176 applies.
