Diese Internationale Norm legt zusammen mit ISO 15004-1 Mindestanforderungen und Prüfverfahren für Synoptophore (auch als Synoptometer oder große Amblyoskope bezeichnet) fest, die dazu dienen, das Binokularsehen eines Prüflings zu prüfen, zu messen, zu schulen und zu entwickeln, sowie Horizontal-, Vertikal- und Zykloabweichungen für verschiedene Blickrichtungen zu messen. Wenn Unterschiede vorliegen, hat diese Internationale Norm Vorrang vor ISO 15004-1.
