Im Sinne des Behindertengleichstellungsgesetzes (BGG) sollte auch die akustische Barrierefreiheit bei der Planung öffentlicher Gebäude und Plätze berücksichtigt werden. Die DIN 18041:2016-03 "Hörsamkeit in Räumen" wurde nach neuesten Erkenntnissen der Hörsamkeit und Inklusion überarbeitet und enthält Anforderungen, Empfehlungen und Hinweise für die Planung von Räumen mit guter Raumakustik. Das betrifft nicht nur typische Veranstaltungsräume, sondern auch Kommunikationsorte wie z. B. Flure, Foyers, Pausenhallen und mehr. Der Beuth Kommentar "Hörsamkeit in Räumen" erläutert abschnittsweise die normativen Festlegungen der neuen DIN 18041, um das Verständnis für den Umgang mit der Norm zu erhöhen und die Anwendung in der Praxis zu erleichtern.
