Der erste Band der Reihe "Statik im Bauwesen" behandelt unter Berücksichtigung des aktuellen Stands der Normung als Schwerpunkt die Bereiche Kräftelehre, Lastermittlung und die Berechnung der Stützkräfte und Schnittgrößen für elementare Stabarten. Dabei wurde verstärkt auf das Arbeiten mit Teilsicherheitsbeiwerten eingegangen. Die Kapitel werden durch ausgewählte Berechnungsbeispiele ergänzt. Das leicht verständliche Grundlagenwerk wurde vorzugsweise für die Ausbildung in Anlehnung an die jeweiligen Lehrpläne erstellt, ist aber gleichzeitig auch ein bewährtes Nachschlagewerk für in der Praxis tätige Ingenieure.
