1.1 This specification covers hot- or cold-worked hafnium rod and wire, or both. 1.2 This specification contains two material grades, one specifically for nuclear applications (Grade R1) and one for commercial applications for alloying (Grade R3). 1.3 The products covered include the following: 1.3.1 Rod 3/8 to 1.0 in. (9.5 to 25.4 mm) in diameter. 1.3.2 Wire less than 3/8 in. (9.5 mm) in diameter. 1.4 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The SI units given in parentheses are for information only. 1.5 This standard does not purport to address the safety problems associated with its use.
