1.1 This test method provides for the calculation of the methanol content of commercially available 37% formaldehyde solutions and is based on the relationship of specific gravity to formaldehyde and methanol content. Separate equations are given for three ranges of methanol: 0 to 2%, 6 to 8%, and 12 to 15%. 1.2 For hazard information and guidance, see the supplier's Material Safety Data Sheet. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
