1.1 This specification covers crushed steel slag coarse and fine aggregates suitable for use in high stability, high friction bituminous paving mixtures. 1.2 The steel slag may be used as the entire aggregate, or combined with other mineral aggregates covered in Specifications D692 or D1073, to produce paving mixtures as described in Specifications D3515 or D4215. 1.3 Units of Measurement: 1.3.1 For sieve sizes and the size of aggregate as determined by the use of testing sieves, the values in inch-pound units are shown for the convenience of the user; however, the standard sieve designation shown in parentheses is the standard value as stated in Specification E11. 1.3.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard.
