Significance and Use | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5.1?This test method was developed to evaluate the oxidation resistance performance of engine oils in turbocharged and intercooled four-cycle diesel engines equipped with EGR and running on ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel. Obtain results from used oil analysis and component measurements before and after test. 5.2?The test method may be used for engine oil specification acceptance when all details of the procedure are followed. |

1. Scope | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1.1?This test method covers an engine test procedure for evaluating diesel engine oils for oxidation performance characteristics in an engine equipped with exhaust gas recirculation and running on ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel.1.2?The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard. 1.2.1?ExceptionWhere there is no direct SI equivalent, such as the units for screw threads, National Pipe Threads/diameters, tubing size, and single source supply equipment specifications. 1.3?This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.4?This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee. |
