| 1. Scope |
|
1.1 This test method covers filter cartridges where the petroleum product feed stream flows at a constant flow rate, makes one pass through the filter cartridge and is not recirculated unfiltered back to the feed tank. 1.2 The flow rate, flow direction, and change out differential pressure for the cartridge will be specified by the manufacturer. These criteria will be included in the performance report. 1.3 The physical properties, including viscosity of the liquid used in the test, should be representative of that found in the end-use application intended for the filter cartridge. 1.4 AC fine test dust will be used as the particle challenge. 1.5 Expressions of filtration performance are in the form of filtration ratios and filtration efficiencies derived from particle-size distributions of test dust acquired by an approved method. 1.6 Filter life is expressed as total mass of challenging contaminant necessary to reach specified change out maximum differential pressure. 1.7 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. |
