V této normě jsou zapracovány údaje z doporučení ISO/R 509:1966. Norma stanoví základní rozměry vidlicových nízkozdvižných vozíků tak, aby bylo možno bez poškození dopravovat normalizované prosté palety a ohradové (skříňové) palety stejných jmenovitých rozměrů a rovněž zboží, u kterého by dopravou mohlo dojít k poškození. Rozměry se vztahují na výšku, šířku, délku ramen vidlice vozíků; každé rameno může mít jedno nebo dvě pojezdová kola. ČSN 26 8821 byla vydána v srpnu 1995
