Norma platí pro konstrukci, výrobu, zkoušení a dodávání kovových ukládacích beden. Bedny jsou určené pro přepravu potravin. Norma neobsahuje žádné požadavky na materiál s ohledem na dopravu poživatin, v čl. 9 totiž uvádí, že "materiál beden se stanoví v rozměrových normách". Ve stručné předmětové technické normě jsou stanoveny parametry (především odolnost proti přetížení, pádu apod.) a zkušební metody. ČSN 26 9108 byla schválena 6.5.1991 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.7.1992. Nahradila - společně s ČSN 26 9109 z 26.5.1991 - starší ČSN 26 9108 z 16.7.1969
