E3 Tato norma určuje požadavky a rozměry vícežilových kabelů s polyethylenovou izolací a PVC pláštěm a olověným stíněním. Kabely s PVC pláštěm musí mít snížené šíření plamene vyhovující HD 405.1 a HD 605, článek 4.1.6. Tyto kabely jsou určeny pro venkovní použití nebo pro použití v zemi mezi elektrárnami a rozvodnami. Maximální nepřetržitá provozní teplota nesmí překročit 70 C. Maximální teplota při zkratových podmínkách je 160 C (max. doba trvání 5 s). Tato norma zahrnuje následující třídu kabelů: - Vícežilové kabely pro jmenovité napětí 450/750 V se společným stíněním. U kabelů, které mají průměr jádra 1,5 a 2,5 mm2 je počet žil maximálně 61.
