Norma platí pro chemický rozbor chromových rud a koncentrátů a určuje stanovení vlhkosti vážkovou metodou. Při provádění rozboru musí být dodržena všechna ustanovení podle ČSN 44 1701. Podstata metody: Vzorek se suší při předepsané teplotě do konstantní hmotnosti. Úbytek hmotnosti odpovídá hygroskopické vlhkosti. Normalizovaný postup je popsán. ČSN 44 1581 byla schválena 20.7.1990 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.8.1991. Nahradila ČSN 44 1612 z 27.6.1973, část 2 a spolu s ČSN 44 1582 a ČSN 44 1584 až ČSN 44 1596 ji nahradila v celém rozsahu
