Tato norma platí pro stanovení celkového obsahu škrobu v krmivech včetně krmných směsí. Pro stanovení obsahu škrobu v bramborách, výrobcích z brambor a krmiv s vysokým obsahem laktózy jsou uvedeny příslušné modifikace. Metody nelze použít pro krmiva s relativně vysokým obsahem polymerů fruktózy, konkrétně pro krmiva, obsahující řepné řízky a bulvy, skrojky, jakož i zdrtky těchto plodin, kvasnice a krmiva bohatá na inulin.
