Touto normou se zavádí ST SEV 2018-79 jako ČSN, jíž se pro potřeby tehdejší ČSSR (ČSFR), resp. ČR norma RVHP nedoplňovala. Norma RVHP platí pro kulatinu surového dříví jehličnatých a listnatých dřevin a stanoví způsoby měření jejich viditelných vad podle ČSN 48 0203 (ST SEV 2017-79). Jde o všeobecnou normu kterou lze přiřadit k normám názvoslovným. ČSN 48 0204 byla schválena 24.12.1981 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.1.1983. Nahradila ČSN 48 0005 (viz poznámka u ČSN 48 0203). "Změnou a)-12/1982" se s účinností od 1.3.1983 stanoví, že ČSN 48 0203, ČSN 48 0204 a ČSN 48 0205 společně nahrazují ČSN 48 0005 z r.1959. "Změnou 2)-2/1999" vydanou v únoru 1999 se s účinností od 1.1. 2000 nahrazuje značná část normy ČSN EN 1310 a ČSN EN 1311
