Norma je překladem ST SEV 5552-86. Platí pro vrtačky a vrtací dlabačky a stroje pro vyvrtávání a vyspravování suků. Používá se společně s ČSN 46 6120. Velmi stručná norma /9 článků/ obsahuje jen nejzákladnější bezpečnostní požadavky: blokovací zařízení, kryty, zajištění otáčejících se částí a - podle čl. 6 - takovou konstrukci stojanu, která zajistí "možnost upevnění stroje k pružným podpěrám, tlumícím vibrace". ČSN 49 6120 byla schválena 11.4.1988 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.1.1989. "Změnou 1)-7/1993" se s účinností od 1.10.1993 ruší čl. 2 a mění text čl.4
