V této normě jsou zapracovány údaje ST SEV 5806-86 s čs. doplňky. Jsou normalizovány dvě metody, plotnová a membránové filtrace. Postup i hodnocení je popsáno. Není uveden přípustný obsah těchto bakterií. Norma také stanovuje některé kvalitativní znaky (jakosti) významné pro hygienu výživy, popř. metody jejich zjišťování (ověřování). ČSN 56 0095 byla schválena 11.4.1988 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.1.1989. Nahradila čl. 91 ČSN 56 0100 z 22.5.1968
