Touto normou se zavádí ST SEV 4262-83 jako ČSN, Jíž se pro potřeby ČSSR (ČSFR) popř. ČR doplňuje 7 článků, které se vysloveně netýkají ochrany zdraví, ale úpravy některých operací při provádění zkoušky. Ani norma RVHP - která stanoví postup zkoušky - neobsahuje zvláštní ustanovení na ochranu zdraví. Norma se vztahuje k zjišťování některých kvalitativních znaků (jakosti) významných pro hygienu výživy. ČSN 56 0186-5 byla schválena 11.1.1985 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.1.1986. Nahradila čl. 25 a 26 ČSN 56 0186 z 10.5.1967
