Norma platí pro výrobu, zkoušení a dodávání koženek. V čl. 4 je uvedeno, že "koženky nesmí ohrozit lidský organismus chemickými a biologickými škodlivinami. Pokud jsou z hlediska praktického použití vyžadovány zvláštní hygienické požadavky, musí být specifikovány v materiálovém listu koženky." Dále se uvádí, že "vlastnosti koženek z hlediska hygienických požadavků jsou určeny: - migrací změkčovadel, - migrací barev, - otěrem za sucha, - otěrem za mokra, - stálostí vybarvení a podle účelu použití též - propustností vodních par, - navhlavostí, - vysýchavostí." ČSN 64 7003 byla schválena 5.4.1986 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.1.1990 (tedy skoro za 4 roky po schválení). Nahradila ČSN 64 7003 z 11.2.1957
