Touto normou se zavádí ST SEV 3969-83 jako ČSN, jíž se pro potřeby tehdejší ČSSR (ČSFR), resp. ČR norma RVHP nedoplňovala. Norma RVHP platí pro průmyslové oleje získané zpracováním ropy, zahrnuje hydraulické oleje a určuje klasifikaci podle jejich kinematické viskozity. Princip klasifikace je podrobně popsán. ČSN 65 6601 byla schválena 26.11.1984 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.1.1986
