Norma platí pro experimentální prověřování účinků tepelných mostů, vyskytujících se u stavebních dílců a jejich styků v konstrukcích bytových, občanských, průmyslových a zemědělských staveb. Tepelným mostem podle této normy se rozumí místo v dílci nebo v konstrukci, kde dochází ke zvýšenému tepelnému toku oproti ostatním částem dílce a projevuje se snížením vnitřní povrchové teploty. Stručná předpisová norma přesněji stanoví požadované podklady ke zkouškám, zkušební zařízení a pomůcky a stanoví také způsob zpracování výsledků a dokumentaci o zkoušce. ČSN 73 0546 byla schválena 12.6.1973 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.9.1975
