Norma platí pro výrobu, zkoušení a dodávání tříslených mazaných usní z hovězin, určených k výrobě předmětů pro technické, sportovní, ochranné aj. účely. Nejde o usně chromočiněné. Norma neřeší problematiku chromu, ani jiné hygienicky závažné otázky a ochrany zdraví se prakticky netýká. Účel použití kůže pro ochranné pomůcky není blíže rozveden - je pouze důležité, že jde o useň tříslenou, nikoliv chromočiněnou. ČSN 79 2570 byla schválena 5.9.1983 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.1.1985. Nahradila ČSN 79 2570 z 26.6.1956
