Podle této normy se zjišťuje průměrný polymerační stupeň (PPS), udávající chemické poškození textilií z celulózových vláken. Zkušební vzorek celulózy se rozpustí v amoniakálním roztoku hydroxidu měďnatého a stanoví se specifická viskozita. Ze zjištěné hodnoty specifické viskozity se vypočítá vnitřní viskozita a dále PPS.
