Norma určuje názvy oblečení a osobního prádla v oborech výroby oděvů, prádla a pletenin, a to zejména v hospodářském styku, učebních textech a odborné literatuře. Slovensky a česky je uvedeno názvosloví. Slovensky je definováno 164 hesel. Ekvivalentní názvy v angličtině, francouzštině, němčině nebo ruštině uvedeny nejsou. ČSN 80 7002 byla schválena 24.12.1981 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.3.1983. Nahradila část I až V. ČSN 80 7002 z 21.12.1966. Část VI této normy nahradila ČSN 80 7606 z 24.12.1981.
