Tato norma platí pro chirurgické jehly používané pro sešívání tkání při chirurgických operacích. Jehly jsou určeny pro jednorázové i opakované maximálně trojnásobné použití. Stanovuje typy a rozměry jehel, jejich označování, způsob přejímky, balení a skladování a informace poskytované výrobcem. Norma neplatí pro atraumatické a speciální jehly. V návrhu opatření na schválení návrhu ČSN 85 5925 s uvedením ve Věstníku je navržen předpokládaný termín vyhlášení únor 2005.
