Tato technická specifikace se týká aktivních detektorů s infračerveným paprskem (AIBD) instalovaných uvnitř budov a jsou používány jako součást poplachových zabezpečovacích systémů. Specifikuje čtyři stupně zabezpečení 1 až 4 (v souladu s EN 50131-1) a používá třídy prostředí I až IV (v souladu s EN 50130-5). Tato norma se vztahuje pouze na detektory AIBD používající technologie na bázi přerušení. Další technologie, např. technologie založená na Dopplerově jevu nejsou předmětem tohoto dokumentu. Funkce, které jsou nad rámec povinných funkcí uvedených v této normě, může detektor AIBD obsahovat, ale nesmí ovlivnit správné fungování povinných funkcí.
