Tato norma určuje podmínky pro měření tahových vlastností jednotlivého vlákna u výrobků z vláken při vysokých teplotách ve vzduchu nebo v inertní atmosféře (vakuum nebo řízená atmosféra). Metoda platí pro kontinuální keramická vlákna odebraná z tkanin, vláken, copů a pleteniny, která mají deformaci do porušení menší nebo rovnou 5 % a vykazují lineární pružné chování do porušení. Metodu nelze používat pro zkoušení stejnorodosti pevnostních vlastností vláken, ani nehodnotí účinky objemu pod napětím. Statistické aspekty porušení vláken nejsou zahrnuty.
