Tato evropská norma platí pro nové pohyblivé schody a pohyblivé chodníky (s paletami nebo pásy) uvedené v kapitole 3. Tato evropská norma pojednává o všech závažných nebezpečích, nebezpečných situacích a událostech u pohyblivých schodů a pohyblivých chodníků, když se používají tak, jak bylo zamýšleno a za podmínek možnosti zneužití, které lze rozumně předvídat výrobcem (viz kapitola 4). Tuto evropskou normu nelze uplatňovat na pohyblivé schody a pohyblivé chodníky, které byly vyrobeny před datem její publikace. Doporučuje se však, aby existující zařízení byla upravena podle této normy
