Tato norma je českou verzí evropské normy EN 12068:1998. Evropská norma EN 12068:1998 má status české technické normy. Tato evropská norma stanoví požadavky a zkušební metody pro organické izolace páskové nebo smršťovací materiály pro ochranu proti korozi ocelových potrubí uložených v zemi nebo ve vodě používaných za působení katodické ochrany. Tato norma klasifikuje izolace podle stoupající odolnosti vůči mechanickému namáhání a podle provozní teploty. Izolace pro speciální podmínky zpracování jsou také zahrnuty. ČSN EN 12068 (03 8333) byla vydána v září 1999. Nahrazují se kapitoly 1 až 6 ČSN 03 8332 z prosince 1993
