Tato evropská norma stanoví hlavní rozměry, konstrukci a požadavky na lanové koše. Lanové koše se používají na vnitrozemských plavidlech k ukládání ocelových drátěných lan, lan z umělých vláken nebo lan z přírodních vláken, která jsou potřebná např. pro uvazování a vlečení. Použitím lanových košů se předchází nebezpečím hrozícím posádce během manévrování, např. vkročení do smyček nebo pád přes lana položená na palubě
