Tato norma je použitelná pro konstrukci, výrobu, kontrolu a zkoušení přepravních vakuově izolovaných kryogenických nádob s objemem do 1000 litrů včetně navržených pro nejvyšší pracovní přetlak vyšší než atmosférický. Tato norma platí pro stabilní vakuově izolované kryogenické nádoby pro tekutiny specifikované v EN 1251-1 a není použitelná pro nádoby navržené pro toxické kapaliny. Na detaily o používaných materiálech je odkazováno na kapitolu 8 v EN 1251-1. Doplňující požadavky pro hořlavé kapaliny obsahuje příloha C.
