Tato evropská norma stanoví pro chrániče hlavy bez ochrany obličeje, které se používají při bojových sportech beze zbraně, jako je taekwondo, karate, kick-box a podobné discipliny, doplňkové požadavky a zkušební metody. Lze ji použít i pro chrániče hlavy užívané při boxu. Chránič hlavy je ochranný prostředek jednotlivce chránící přední, postranní a zadní části hlavy při bojových sportech. Chrániče hlavy jsou určeny k tomu, aby poskytly určitý stupeň ochrany v případě náhodného kontaktu při bojových sportech. Bojové sporty mohou být nebezpečné a silné údery do hlavy mohou způsobit závažné zranění i v případech, kdy je chránič nasazen a řádně použit.
