Tato evropská norma stanoví metodu zkoušení požární odolnosti nosných stěn. Platí pro vnitřní i obvodové stěny. Požární odolnost obvodových stěn se může stanovit za podmínek vnitřního i vnějšího požárního namáhání. Požární odolnost nosných stěn se běžně hodnotí bez výplně otvorů jako jsou například dveře, zasklení nebo požárně odolné potrubí. Lze-li prokázat, že konstrukce otvoru je taková že nepřenáší zatížení, pak se výplň otvorů nemusí zkoušet v zatíženém stavu. Má-li být výplň otvoru začleněna do hodnocení, je nutno její vliv stanovit samostatně. Tato zkušební metoda neplatí pro nedělicí nosné stěny, které lze v malých šířkách zkoušet jako sloupy podle EN 1365-4
