Pasivní stav je důvodem, proč z těchto materiálů není do pitné vody uvolňováno prakticky žádné množství kovů. Tato zkouška se používá pro ověření, zda je uvažovaná slitina pasivní za podmínek, které mohou nastat v pitné vodě. Tento dokument se nepoužívá pro zkoušení výrobku. Je použitelný pouze pro hodnocení pasivního vlivu materiálů
