Tato evropská norma je určena pro výstavbu (ukládání) a zkoušení stok a kanalizačních potrubí, které jsou obvykle ukládány v zemi a provozovány s gravitačním průtokem s přetlakem až do 0,5 kPa. Stavební provedení potrubí, které je provozováno pod tlakem, je rovněž předmětem této evropské normy, popř. společně s EN 805 (např. pro zkoušení). Tuto evropskou normu lze použít pro stoky a kanalizační potrubí ukládané v rýhách, v násypech nebo nad zemí. Pro bezvýkopovou technologii se používá EN 12889
