Tato evropská norma specifikuje metodu charakterizující vliv prvků stavebního kování na požární vlastnosti, při jejich osazení do závěsových nebo otočných svisle instalovaných sestav požárních dveří (s jedním nebo dvěma křídly), nebo do svisle instalovaných otevíravých okenních sestav, se známou požární odolností do 240 minut pro celistvost (a tam, kde je to vhodné, i pro izolaci), v souladu s EN 1634-1. Platí pro zkoušení stavebního kování pro použití na závěsových a otočných dveřích a otevíravých oknech, což zahrnuje i rámové prosklené dveře a okna, nikoliv však skleněné dveře. Neobsahuje zkoušku trvanlivosti nebo jiné charakteristiky chování, které se mají hodnotit podle předmětové normy pro konkrétní prvek stavebního kování, nebo tak, jak je uvedeno v EN 14600.
