Tato norma specifikuje požadavky a zkušební metody pro zemní plyn (skupiny L a H podle normy EN 437), biometan a jejich směsi používané jako pohonné hmoty. Norma se vztahuje na výše uvedené pohonné hmoty, bez ohledu na to, v jakém stavu jsou skladovány (stlačené nebo zkapalněné). Ke kontrole dodržování některých požadavků stanovených touto normou má být LNG nebo zkapalněný biometan před zkoušením znovu uveden do plynného stavu
