Tento dokument specifikuje různé metody kvantitativního stanovení 16 polycyklických aromatických uhlovodíků v půdách, kalech, upraveném bioodpadu a odpadech s použitím plynové chromatografie nebo vysokoúčinné kapalinové chromatografie. Tato metoda může být používána také pro sedimenty, pokud uživatel ověřil její použitelnost. Mez detekce závisí na stanovovaných látkách, na použitém vybavení, na kvalitě chemikálií použitých pro extrakci vzorku a čištění extraktu. Za podmínek uvedených v tomto dokumentu je možné dosáhnout meze stanovitelnosti od 10 µg/kg (v sušině) pro půdy, kaly a bioodpad do 100 µg/kg (v sušině) pro pevné odpady. U některých specifických vzorků (např. bitumen) nelze dosáhnout meze 100 µg/kg
