Tato norma je českou verzí evropské normy EN 50203:1996. Evropská norma EN 50203:1996 má status české technické normy. Tento dokument specifikuje prvky a popisuje vlastnosti pro dálkovou instalaci kanálů TV přijímače a kazetového videomagnetofonu pomocí teletextu. Specifikace popsané v tomto dokumentu dělají instalaci kanálu TV přijímače a kazetového videomagnetofonu co nejjednodušší, je-li konzument připojen ke kabelové síti, která podporuje tak zvanou "Jednotnou stránku TXT" instalovanou kabelovým operátorem. "Jednotná stránka TXT" obsahuje strojově čitelný, předem nastavený obsah této kabelové sítě a je-li TV nebo kazetový videomagnetofon konzumenta vybaven dekodérem podle dále popsaného algoritmu, proběhne instalace kanálu plně automaticky. ČSN EN 50203 (36 7516) byla vydána v lednu 1999
