Norma je součástí souboru norem ČSN EN 60216, který se zabývá hodnocením dlouhodobé tepelné odolnosti elektroizolačních materiálů. V této části je uveden návod pro volbu zkušebních kritérií a koncových bodů zkoušky pro určení charakteristik tepelné odolnosti. V tabulce 1 je uveden seznam stávajících publikovaných postupů, který však není vyčerpávající. Příloha A charakterizuje jednotlivé skupiny materiálů pro snazší přiřazení doporučených zkoušek novým nebo neznámým materiálům.
