Tato norma stanovuje postupy zkoušky a výpočtu charakteristik tepelné odolnosti, teplotního indexu (TI) a indexu relativní tepelné odolnosti (RTE) materiálu "metodou pevně stanovených časů (FTFM)". Podle tohoto postupu probíhá stárnutí po několik málo pevných časů při příslušném počtu teplot stárnutí pro každý čas. Vlastnosti vzorků se měří na konci příslušného časového intervalu. Postup je omezen pouze na destruktivní zkoušky. Jak TI, tak RTE určené podle FTFM postupu, jsou odvozeny z experimentálních dat získaných v souladu s postupy IEC 60216-1 a IEC 60216-2 upravenými v této normě. Postupy výpočtu a statistické testy jsou upraveny z postupů a testů IEC 60216-3 a IEC 60216-5. Součástí normy je CD-ROM s výpočtovými programy a datovými soubory vztahujícími se k Příloze G.
