Tato norma se zabývá bezpečností elektrických čerpadel pro kapaliny s teplotou nepřesahující 90 °C, určených pro domácnost a podobné účely, jejichž jmenovité napětí není vyšší než 250 V u jednofázových spotřebičů a 480 V u ostatních spotřebičů. Příklady spotřebičů, které jsou v rozsahu platnosti této normy - čerpadla pro akvária, čerpadla pro zahradní jezírka, kalová čerpadla, ponorná čerpadla, čerpadla pro stolní fontány a vertikální čerpadla do mokré jímky.
