Tato Část 2 IEC 60598 uvádí požadavky na svítidla zapuštěná v terénu, obsahující elektrické světelné zdroje pro provoz s napájecím napětím do 1 000 V a pro vnější i vnitřní použití, například v parcích, zahradách, vozovkách, parkovištích, stezkách pro cyklisty a chodce, pěších zónách, koupalištích mimo zón s obvody SELV, v jeslích/školkách a pro podobné případy použití. Norma neplatí pro svítidla zapuštěná v terénu určená pro jízdní dráhy a letové dráhy letišť specifikovaná v IEC 61827.
