Norma uvádí požadavky na technické neohebné desky pro elektrotechnické účely na bázi polyesterových pryskyřic a s různými výztužemi. Jejich použití a významné vlastnosti jsou uvedeny v tabulce 1. Materiály, které jsou ve shodě s touto specifikací, splňují zavedené úrovně vlastností. Výběr materiálů uživatelem pro konkrétní aplikaci však má být založen na skutečných požadavcích nezbytných pro vlastnosti přiměřené této aplikaci a nemá vycházet pouze z této specifikace. Do normy byly zařazeny nové typy materiálů, u některých stávajících typů byly provedeny změny v požadavcích na vlastnosti, byly doplněny nové metody zkoušení permitivity a ztrátového činitele. Všechny údaje, které nemají charakter specifikace, byly přesunuty do nové části 60893-4Typické hodnoty.
