Norma se vztahuje na kondenzátory, potenciometry a rezistory používané v elektronickém zařízení ovládané hřídeli a upevňované maticí do jednoho otvoru. Obsahuje preferované rozměry těchto součástek, které byly vybrány z norem IEC 60390 a IEC 60620. Rozsahy rozměrů zahrnuté do těchto norem byly příliš rozsáhlé a obsahovaly příliš mnoho variant, proto byl proveden výběr doporučených variant. .
