Tato norma je českou verzí evropské normy EN 61064:1993. Evropská norma EN 61064:1993 má status české technické normy. Oznámení o schválení: Text mezinárodní normy IEC 1064:1991 byl schválen CENELEC jako evropská norma bez jakýchkoliv modifikací. Tato mezinárodní norma platí především pro zkoušení systémů regulace otáček a systémů ochrany proti nadměrnému zvýšení otáček (přeběhu) parních turbín s konstantními otáčkami, pohánějícími elektrické generátory na střídavý proud v elektrárnách. Tam, kde je to vhodné, může být použita pro jiné typy parních turbín. ČSN EN 61064 (08 0064) byla vydána v listopadu 1997
