Tato mezinárodní norma popisuje zkušební metody pro analýzu 2-furfuralu a jemu příbuzných sloučenin, které vznikají degradací izolace z celulozy a jsou obsaženy v minerálních izolačních olejích, odebraných z elektrických zařízení. 2-furfural a jemu příbuzné furanové sloučeniny rozpuštěné v minerálním oleji se analyzují vysokoúčinnou kapalinovou chromatografií (HPLC). Před HPLC analýzou se furanové deriváty extrahují z oleje vhodnou extrakční metodou jako je extrakce z kapaliny do kapaliny (metoda A) nebo extrakce tuhou fází - na dělicí koloně plněné silikagelem (metoda B)
