Tato norma, která je součástí souboru norem ČSN EN 61375, specifikuje síť sestavy založenou na ethernet technologii ECN (Ethernet Consist Network) v rámci architektury TCN, jak je definováno v ČSN EN 61375-1 a koncová zařízení, která se k síti ECN mohou připojovat. Navíc jsou specifikovány služby brány mezi páteřní sítí vlaku a sítí ECN. Obecná architektura TCN (viz ČSN EN 61375-1) definuje hierarchickou strukturu s dvěma úrovněmi sítí, páteřní síť a síť sestavy. Tato hierarchická struktura specifikuje síť sestavy založenou na různých technologiích jako MVB, CANopen a ECN s rozhraním na jednu páteřní síť.
