Norma se zaměřuje na mechanismy poruch pasivních součástek vláknové optiky a definuje zkoušky, které tyto mechanismy mohou vyvolat nebo stimulovat s cílem stanovit bezporuchovost pomocí zkoušek zrychleného stárnutí.
